FAQ

HOLIDAY PROGRAMME - BEFORE

  • Does my child need dance experience?
No! No dance experience is needed. We cater to all levels of dance, so just a willingness to give it go and have fun is needed.

  • Can children younger than 8 years old attend the full days?
We do sometimes make exceptions for 7/nearly 8 year olds, just note it can be quite a full on programme for them and some group dances might be a bit tricky.  We do have a half day option for 5-7 year olds in West Auckland though! There is also an option for full days at the SUPER holiday programmes (when running).

  • Why is the price so low?
We have funding from the Auckland Council Creative Communities Scheme! This means we can offer a high quality programme for an exceptionally low price! We really hope to make dance accessible by providing an affordable dance programme.

  • Can I book for one day?
Unfortunately we do not allow single day bookings. The programme runs for the five days of the week based off continuity.

  • Can I book for only one week?
Yes! You can book for one week or both weeks.

  • Can I book for the first week, and then book for the second week if my child enjoys it and wants to stay on?
Only if there are spaces available. If the second week is full, then we will not be able to take any extra bookings.

HOLIDAY PROGRAMME - DURING

    • Do you have a mix of boys and girls?
Yes, we have a mix of all genders. We also have some awesome role models for our male students.

    • Can I drop off my children early, or pick them up late?
No. As we hire the hall space in which the programme is run, we cannot provide care before 8.30am or after 4pm (or 5pm for the SUPER programme). Students must be signed in no earlier than 8.30am, and signed out no later than 4pm (or 5pm for the SUPER programme).

    • Does my child have to perform at the end of the week?
No, they do not have to, but generally everyone wants to by the end of the week!

    • Who can watch the end of week showing?
Any friends, family and local community are welcome to come and watch the performance. We will also video the performance and share this with you afterwards.

    • What should my child(ren) wear?
Students should wear clothes they can move comfortably in (ie not jeans, skirts or dresses). They should also bring a warm jumper.

    • Should students bring their dancing shoes?
Students do not need to wear specialised dancing shoes (ie ballet, jazz etc), but they are most welcome to bring and wear them if they like.

    • What times are the breaks?
Each day the breaks are scheduled for 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.15pm. However these can shift slightly depending on how the day is going.

    • Can anyone leave during the day?
No. Parents must sign in their child/ren upon arrival, and sign them out when they leave. If someone needs to leave early they can let the teachers know and sign the child/ren out. Otherwise students cannot leave to go outside, for a walk/play etc without supervision.

    • Do you provide lunches?
No, students need to bring enough food for the day. We have a morning, lunch and afternoon break. Please ensure they also bring a water bottle. We have cold water so they can re-fill their bottles, but we do not provide hot water for lunch foods (such as noodles). The exception is the SUPER holiday programme, where we will have pizza for lunch on the Friday.

    • Is there hot water available?
No. There is no hot water available at the Holiday Programme. Parents should not pack foods such as noodles etc which need to be heated/cooked.
